Las Vegas-based casino operator sets opening date for massive UAE resort project
Summary
Wynn Resorts Ltd. announced that its $5.8 billion integrated resort on Al Marjan Island in the United Arab Emirates will open in September 2027, marking the first firm opening window for the project. The company said the budget has risen by $600 million, largely due to higher shipping, insurance, supply‑chain and staffing costs linked to regional conflict, but it has chosen to absorb the extra spend rather than delay construction. Interior work is underway and operational planning is progressing. CEO Craig Billings emphasized that the resort remains a "very, very strong" investment and that the UAE environment is stable. The company’s Q2 earnings showed a net income of $140.1 million and revenue of $1.86 billion, with Las Vegas operations adding $643.2 million in revenue. Wynn also highlighted strong performance ahead of the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix and continued optimism for its Las Vegas business.
