First NYC casino to offer live table games sets opening day
Summary
Resorts World in Queens is set to open New York City’s first full-fledged casino offering live table games on April 28th. The expansion, which includes 200 live table games like blackjack and roulette, will add 1,250 jobs, including 950 table-game dealers. Robert DeSalvio, president of Genting Americas East, stated that the city has “never seen anything like” this. Resorts World has operated as a slots parlor since 2011 and already had an advantage over other licensees, such as Steve Cohen, who must build new casinos from scratch. The completed project will feature 6,000 slot machines, 800 live table games, 2,000 hotel rooms, a 7,000-seat concert hall, and 12 acres of public green space, and is expected to generate significant tax revenue for the state’s education system.
