Another casino payment rolls into North Bay's coffers
Summary
The City of North Bay continues to benefit financially from hosting Cascades Casino, receiving a payment of $367,452 from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for the period of January 1st to March 31st. This brings the total revenue shared with the city since the casino opened in March 2022 to $6,417,780. From April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, the city received $1.6 million. The city council has already allocated $1.5 million towards a new twin-pad arena and $200,000 to support the medical wing at Elmwood Youth Centre. Furthermore, $3 million has been designated to address North Bay’s growing homeless population, potentially funding a 24/7 low-barrier shelter with integrated health and social services. OLG distributes revenue to host municipalities based on a graduated scale of gaming revenue, contributing nearly $2.4 billion to Ontario communities since 1994.
