Kalshi opens gambling to young adults
Summary
A new analysis reveals that young adults who are barred from most U.S. gambling operations are trading billions of dollars on Kalshi, a prediction market platform. While state-regulated casinos and sportsbooks typically require participants to be at least 21 years old, Kalshi's minimum age is 18. According to the analysis, people between the ages of 18 and 20 have spent more than $5 billion on the platform in 2024, with most of the activity involving sports betting. A Kalshi spokesperson stated that 18 to 21-year-old users represent about 3% of the company's total trading volume.
