Snuneymuxw First Nation acquires fifth casino in past year
Summary
The Snuneymuxw First Nation, through its economic development wing Petroglyph Development Group, has acquired the Great Canadian Casino Vancouver in Coquitlam. While the financial terms were not disclosed, Chief Mike Wyse stated the acquisition will bolster the nation’s financial independence and demonstrates a successful strategy for growth. This marks the fifth casino acquisition for the nation in the past year, following purchases of Casino Nanaimo, Elements Casino Victoria, River Rock Casino Resort, and Chances Maple Ridge. These deals position Petroglyph as a leading casino operator in B.C. and the largest Indigenous-owned gaming operator in Canada by revenue. Petroglyph has significantly expanded over the last decade, growing from three to thirteen companies, and aims to continue contributing positively to the economies of the communities in which it operates. The Great Canadian Casino Vancouver boasts 917 slot machines, 37 table games, and various dining and entertainment options.
