Belgium's Kansspelcommissie (KSC) has partnered with DNS Belgium, the country’s leading internet provider, to combat illegal gambling operations. Effective December 15th, the KSC will leverage this partnership to identify and block websites advertising or providing gambling services without a Belgian license, focusing initially on “.be” domains. The process involves the KSC notifying DNS Belgium of illegal content, which then informs the domain holder of violations and may ultimately redirect the domain to a warning page from the Commission des Jeux de Hasard (CJH). This initiative follows a study revealing that despite a preference for licensed platforms, many young adults still access illegal gambling sites. The KSC aims to protect players and ensure “channeling to legal gambling” through enhanced oversight and enforcement.
