Casino Landmark to close at year-end
Summary
SJM Resorts S.A. announced that Casino Landmark, Macau’s last remaining satellite casino, will cease operations at 11:59 p.m. on December 30th. This closure marks the end of a three-year government initiative to phase out satellite casinos following amendments to Macau’s Gaming Law in 2022. SJM Resorts stated its support for the government’s policy promoting a sustainable gaming sector. All gaming tables and machines will be moved to other SJM casinos, and unredeemed chips or deposits can be claimed at other SJM properties. SJM assures all employees will be reassigned within the group, with support for those not directly employed by SJM. The closure follows those of Casino Fortuna and the casino at Ponte 16, with the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Directorate (DICJ) overseeing the process and coordinating with the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) to protect workers’ rights. With this closure, Macau has seen 10 out of 11 satellite casinos close, leaving only L’Arc Casino expected to operate beyond the deadline, as it will be fully acquired by SJM.
