Upgrades near completion at Carson City’s Federal Hotel, Seven Grille and Max Casino
Summary
The multi-million-dollar remodel of The Federal Hotel, Seven Grille and Max Casino in Carson City is almost finished. Owner Rory Bedore, who bought the property in 2011, said the restaurant and hotel upgrades are 95% done and the casino is about 65% complete. All 92 hotel rooms have been redone, including fifth-floor lofts, four suites, 11 patio rooms, and double queen and king rooms; rooms feature rolling barn doors for bathrooms and a balcony or patio, and rates run $150 to $200 a night. Bedore said the renovations, started over a year ago, prepare the site to receive Hilton Tapestry brand status by Jan. 1. The property, originally The Mother Lode and then Carson Station, has been upgraded and expanded before. Seven Grille offers a full bar and food including steak, prime rib, pasta and seafood, with three meeting rooms including one with an atrium or sky view. Casino renovations began about five years ago with general manager Brett Hunn, adding leathered quartzite counters at two bars, cloud-based gaming machine servers, an emphasis on smoke evacuation, and scented air stations. Two parking lots serve customers, and the entryway will get new carpeting by the end of the year. Bedore plans a grand reopening in the first quarter of next year.
