Boyd sells former casino site for nearly $29M after housing project lands approvals
Summary
Boyd Gaming Corp. sold the site of the former Eastside Cannery in Las Vegas for $28.8 million to a New York investment firm acting as a land banker, which simultaneously granted Lennar Corp. an option to acquire the roughly 29.5-acre property. Clark County commissioners approved Lennar's plans for a 279-lot single-family housing tract with two parks and a trail. Boyd had purchased the land for $45 million in early 2025, demolished the shuttered casino, and imploded its 16-story hotel tower on March 5. The Eastside Cannery, a $250 million project that opened in 2008, never reopened after Nevada's 2020 coronavirus shutdown. Boyd cited excess capacity at its nearby Sam's Town property and weak market conditions as reasons for not reopening it.
