Friday marked the official 25th anniversary of Black Oak Casino Resort, celebrating a quarter-century of growth and development of the Tuolumne Rancheria and the town of Tuolumne area. It commemorates the day the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians first opened the original Black Oak Casino on May 15, 2001, in "a humble metal building that was home to just a few hundred slot machines," Black Oak Casino Resort marketing director Luis Torres told The Union Democrat this week.
