Louisiana casino revenue growing faster than national average, thanks to expansions
Summary
Louisiana's state-regulated gambling halls saw their revenues grow well above the national average in 2025, driven by a series of upgrades and expansions. The state's riverboat casinos, land-based gambling halls, race track casinos, and sportsbooks brought in $3.05 billion in revenue, a 10.4% increase over 2024. This growth was fueled by the opening of Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana in Bossier City and the 2018 change to state law that allowed floating casinos to move onto land. Since 2022, four properties have moved onto land, including Horseshoe Lake Charles, The Queen Baton Rouge, Treasure Chest in Kenner, and Bally's Baton Rouge. These moves have proven successful, with Treasure Chest seeing a 31.4% increase in revenue and Bally's Baton Rouge seeing a 71% increase. Caesars New Orleans also saw a 19% increase in revenue, thanks to a major renovation effort. While Louisiana's gambling revenues were increasing, neighboring Mississippi saw a decline in revenue, making it the only U.S. jurisdiction to not post an increase from 2024.
