Watch: Police swarm casino after man allegedly pointed gun-shaped object at car
Summary
A 31-year-old Thornlie man was dramatically arrested at Perth’s Crown Casino after allegedly pointing a novelty cigarette lighter resembling a gun at a car on Teddington Road, Burswood, around 10 a.m. Police body-worn video showed heavily armed officers racing through the casino, ordering a man to the ground and handcuffing him beside pokie machines after tracking two men from a white station wagon to the gaming floor. No firearm was found; instead, officers located a gun-shaped lighter in the casino food court toilets. The man was charged with being armed in a way that may cause fear, being armed in or near a place of public entertainment, drug possession, and possessing drug paraphernalia. He was released on bail and is due to face Perth Magistrates Court on 22 May, while a second man present was released without charge.
