OLG makes $2M payment to Windsor for hosting casino
Summary
The City of Windsor received a $2,032,014 payment from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) in the third quarter, bringing the total received since April 1, 2025, to $7,448,680. These payments are part of the OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement, which provides funding to host communities based on gaming revenue. Since 1994, Windsor has received a total of $138,794,609 from the OLG. MPP Andrew Dowie highlighted the importance of this revenue for delivering vital services and enhancing the quality of life for Windsor residents. Caesars Windsor, originally opened in 1994, employs approximately 1,800 people and is a major employer in the Windsor-Essex County region. All OLG profits are reinvested in communities across Ontario.
