KSA Warns Dutch Gambling Operators of Absolutely Undesirable Account Termination Breaches
Summary
The Dutch gambling regulator, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has warned licensed operators that some have not properly followed the Netherlands' rules on account termination, calling the practices "absolutely undesirable." The KSA clarified that closing accounts must be as easy as possible when requested: no barriers such as mandatory customer service contact, no attempts to persuade players to stay during termination conversations, and remaining funds must be paid out without undue delay and without conditions. The new guidance removes ambiguity about how the account closure process should be structured. In a separate action, the KSA revoked a lottery licence obtained through professional fraud. Although registered in the name of football club Quick Boys from Katwijk, the club had not applied and had no connection to the lottery websites. An unknown party impersonated the club's chairman to obtain the licence, then used it to set up websites offering lottery tickets. The websites are loterij.quickboys.nl, loterijenqb.com, besteloterijqb.com, nieuweqb.com, bestenl.com, topnetherlands.com, newloterij.com, and topsloterij.com.
