The Palms hotel-casino celebrated the grand opening of its new 7,300-square-foot, fully enclosed nonsmoking gaming space on Tuesday. The event included the inaugural "Spin It Forward" IGT Charity Slot Challenge, where Las Vegas personalities competed on slot machines to raise funds for local nonprofits. The San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority, which owns the Palms, donated $25,000 to the 10 participating organizations, with an additional $10,000 awarded by IGT based on tournament results. The "Proud to Rescue Benevolent Fund" took first place, receiving a total of $5,500. The new gaming area, located near the sportsbook, features 224 slot machines and a full-service bar, offering a fully enclosed alternative to designated smoking sections on the main floor. The expansion was developed in response to guest demand for more nonsmoking gambling options. The Palms is owned and operated by the San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority, an entity of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians.
