HEW/BFJ Joint advances $20 million River Spirit Casino hazard mitigation grant
Summary
On Aug. 25, the Health, Education, and Welfare Committee and the Business, Finance, and Justice Committee of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation held an in-person meeting. The council passed TR 26-054, a resolution authorizing the Principal Chief to submit a grant application to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program. The application seeks $20 million for the River Spirit Casino Hazard Mitigation Project to protect facilities against natural weather disasters. If the grant is received, the National Council will commit $5 million over three years as a leveraged resource. Additionally, the council passed TR 26-055, authorizing an amendment to a credit agreement with BOK Financial Public Finance, Inc., to extend the audit date and reduce testing frequency.
