Majority of Dutch savers against banks investing in porn, gambling industries
Summary
A recent survey of 1,078 Dutch savers conducted by Panelwizard for Triodos Bank indicates that a majority oppose their banks investing in sectors such as gambling, pornography, and weapons. The opposition is particularly strong among women, with 63% finding pornography investments unacceptable and 59% rejecting weapons investments, compared to 38% and 47% of men respectively. Nearly half (45%) of savers would consider switching banks if their investments conflicted with personal values. Despite these strong opinions, 86% of savers are unaware of how their money is actually invested, and two-thirds have never received information from their bank about their savings. Daniël Köhler of Triodos Bank suggests that opposition isn't necessarily to defense itself, but to funding it through commercial banks, arguing that government financing through taxes creates an incentive for peaceful resolutions. The survey also highlighted concerns about fast fashion (43% disapproval) and a general desire for responsible investing (67% importance).
